Senate Bill 722 closes a lucrative loophole in rent control ordinances by adding further clarification that a manufactured home may not be eligible for rent control if the home is not the principal residence of the homeowner. Local governments enact rent control ordinances in order to help people afford to live in the communities they work and raise their families, not reward those individuals who simply have found a way around the intent of the law.
